Hosting Companies, which one will work for you?
If you are new to blogging or a seasoned veteran, finding the right hosting company that will work for your blog and domain is critical.
This article deals with hosting companies and will deal with other aspects of blogging in more articles to come.
There are several hosting companies to choose from, but I will only touch on the Top 5.
Some of the qualities you need to look for in any hosting companies are as follows:
- first and foremost is the price of the service and what it will cost you for either a month or yearly fee
- second priority is their support staff and how quickly they respond to support tickets
- do they offer unlimited websites you can host or do they limit you to one or two websites
- how easy is it to maneuver in their C-panel
- how many email accounts you can set up within the hosting company for your website or websites
- how reliable is their service and do they stand up to the standard of if your hosted website goes down, how quickly is service restored
These are just some of the things you need to look into when searching which hosting companies you want to put your domain and website on.
Here is a list of the top 5 hosting companies:
- HostGator
- FatCow
- IX Web Hosting
- A2 Hosting
- Lunarpages
All of these hosting companies are similar in pricing and bandwidth for your website.
Lunarpages basic level starts out at $4.95 whereas IX Web Hosting currently costs $3.95 for their basic level. Both are a great deal if that is the particular hosting company that appeals to you.
A2 Hosting is running a promotion for $3.32 using a special coupon code and HostGator is currently running special pricing of $3.96 starting out. They both have different levels you can purchase depending on how much bandwidth and other factors mentioned above.
FatCow is another hosting company that is currently offering a discount on their service that starts out at just $3.15, but is a limited sale promotion.
I use HostGator myself because out of all the hosting companies I have seen, they have the best customer support team I have ever encountered. This is something you need to check into with any service you go with because you need to have a great support team on hand if you encounter any problems with your website.
Whatever hosting companies you decide to check out or go with, just make sure you do your homework and see if they have any complaints about their service or not. As well as any other customer issues they have dealt with.
Besides hosting companies, there are other things you need to have like a domain name registered before you can have your website up and running. I will deal with those issues in another post.
Make it a great day!
